(Summary description)The belt conveyor system consists of two or more pulleys (also called drums). The conveyor belt supports (conveyor belts) rotate in infinite loop around them. One or two pulleys are driven to move the belt and its advancing material. The power pulley is called "drive pulley", while the unpowered pulley is called "idle pulley". Conveyor belt conveyors of common materials, such as crates moving through the factory, form belt conveyors different from the conveyor belts used to transport large quantities of agricultural resources and materials.
Depending on the recommended application, the conveyor belt is made of PVC or rubber.



The belt consists of one or more layers of material. Most belts used for general material handling consist of two layers. The housing body is the name of the bottom layer, providing linear resistance and shape, and the surface layer is the name of the top layer. Polyester, nylon and cotton are most commonly used to make carcasses, but various mixtures of rubber or plastic specified using belts can also be used to make coatings.

Belts with evenly spaced separation belts are called lifting belts. It is used to transport bulk materials to steep hills. Belt conveyors are also used for self-unloading bulk carriers and chassis trucks.
